Discovery in Monte León National Park.
The body of a Shepherd’s beaked whale - which until now has been a mystery to scientists - was found recently on the coast of Monte León National Park in the Argentine province of Santa Cruz. The discovery of this cetacean, of which only fragments have been found in a few places in the world, indicates the biological importance that Monte León’s coast and surroundings have for science.
This park, whose coastline is 20 km from National Route 3, is open to the public from November to April. Tourists have the option of staying at Estancia Monte León, wich is 8 km from the park's access road.
