Activities and Excursions

The carrying capacity of this 60,000-hectare working ranch is 30,000 head of sheep and 1,000 head of cattle, allowing visitors to find out how a real livestock ranch functions.

Ranch work is done in spring, summer and fall, beginning with lambing in the spring. Shearing around the eyes, marking, final shearing, dipping and breeding are some of the activities on this typical ranch, about which the owners will tell anecdotes over a barbecue lunch.

Tapi Aike’s annual cattle auction, held December 13, is unique in the province.

March and April are geese shooting season.

This old ranch, started up by Mauricio Braun in 1904, when the Argentine province of Santa Cruz was still a national territory, today belongs to the founder’s granddaughters.

The main house is located on a broad plain with views of the Paine Towers and the Baguales range. A service station with a shop sells fuel. The inn is attended by the owners. Visitors are served home-cooked regional cuisine.
