| The carrying capacity of this 60,000-hectare
working ranch is 30,000 head of sheep and 1,000 head of cattle, allowing visitors to find
out how a real livestock ranch functions. Ranch work is done in spring, summer and fall, beginning with lambing in the spring. Shearing around the eyes, marking, final shearing, dipping and breeding are some of the activities on this typical ranch, about which the owners will tell anecdotes over a barbecue lunch. Tapi Aikes annual cattle auction, held December 13, is unique in the province. March and April are geese shooting season. |
